Traders are backbone of economy: Satpathy

“Traders are the backbone of the economy. The country with good infrastructure helps its economy to grow at faster pace,” said Anup Kumar Satpathy, Chief General Manager of CONCOR.

He was speaking at the inaugural session of State-level Vendor Development Programme (SVDP) organised by Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DICCI), Vidarbha Chapter in association with National Small Scale Industrial Development Corporation (NSIC) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). The programme was graced by S H Siddhique, General Manager of NSIC; Nishchay Shelke, President of DICCI Western India; Gopal Wasnik, President DICCI, Vidarbha Chapter; D I Khan, Material Manager of MOIL; Rajiv Bhoval, Material Manager of Concor; Abhijeet Kumar, Material Manager of BHEL; Rajiv Kumar, Nitin Vyas, Material Manager of MECL; Nitin Gajbhiye from WCL.

Satpathy continued, “Apart from service and farming sectors, trading also has its own importance. Concor needs SC/ST suppliers for transportation of goods. We welcome SC/ST suppliers to come forward and joined hands with CONCOR.”

S H Siddhique said that due to the efforts of DICCI, National SC/ST Hub has been formed which will be managed by NSIC. “An amount of Rs 490 crore has been set aside for development of National SC/ST Hub,” he said. The collection of data on national-level of SC/ST entrepreneurs has been started. On the basis of the data, all types of assistance will be given to SC/ST entrepreneurs. Officers from public limited companies also shared information on procurement.

Nishchay Shelke, said, “DICCI is taking efforts to convert Dalit entrepreneurs into vendors through SVDP. In Central India WCL, MOIL, NTPC, NSCIC, Concor, Nagpur Metro, MECL, Railways, public sector undertakings and other companies are taking part in the programme. Such programmes help DICCI entrepreneurs to know what are the requirements of companies.”

Gopal Wasnik said, for the last 15 years, DICCI was working on the path shown by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Winnie Meshram, Chairperson of DICCI Women Wing also threw light on the schemes available for women entrepreneurs by Government of Maharashtra.

The session was conducted by Kranti Meshram while the technical sessions was conducted by Pradeep Meshram. Rajesh Dawande, Vice-President DICCI Vidarbha Chapter, Rupraj Gauri, Vijay Somkuwar, Gautam Sontakke, Mangesh Dongarwar, Shraddhanand Ganvir, Samir Gedam, Raj Mendhe, Sandeep Bharne and others took efforts for the success of the event.
