Raipur,

‘Police Mitra’ on Tuesday carried a campaign in limits of Tikrapara police station to create awareness about Supreme Court’s directives on burning crackers. On the occasion, female volunteers of ‘Police Mitra’ carried out door-to-door campaign and called on people to follow the directives issued by Apex Court regarding burning of crackers and time restriction imposed by the court.

During this campaign, the volunteers also informed people that police will be taking punitive action against those who violate the directives of the court.

Notably, in its verdict, Apex Court has said only 'green firecrackers' (which are less polluting) will be allowed to be sold. The court also imposed timing restrictions on burning firecrackers on Diwali. The court said people will be allowed to burn crackers between 8pm and 10 pm on Diwali. On New Year and Christmas, the timing is from 11:45 pm to 12:15 am.
