Staff Reporter,

When the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released the third list of Assembly candidates on Thursday, name of former PWD Minister and sitting MLA from Seoni Malwa, Sartaj Singh was missing from it. Later, Deeply hurt Sartaj Singh met his supporters and burst into tears. His supporters tried to console him by telling that he should contest election as an independent and they are with him. After some time, Sartaj Singh joined Congress and Congress wasted no time in declaring him as candidate from Hoshangabad.

While meeting with his supporters after BJP denied him ticket, Sartaj Singh literally cried. He kept his handkerchief on both eyes for a few minutes. Seeing this, his supporters became emotional and urged him not to lose heart and should contest election either independent or with on party’s ticket. He told his supporters that he is not the person who dies slowly by sitting at home, he will live in battlefield and will die there only. Meanwhile, Congress leaders did not miss even a second in contacting disgruntled Sartaj Singh and offered him ticket from Hoshangabad.

After sometime, Sartaj Singh was seen wearing the Congress scarf and was seen sporting a big smile on his face. Sartaj Singh is a stalwart leader of Hoshangabad belt and never lost election. He is known for defeating Congress stalwart Arjun Singh. He is having grip till grassroots and is fondly called as Babuji by people. His departure to Congress is a big loss to BJP as Sartaj Singh’s popular image will be giving tough time to the BJP in near future. Moreover, path of victory to Hoshangabad’s BJP candidate and Assembly Speaker Dr Sitasharan Sharma has become difficult. When contacted, Congress media incharge Shobha Ojha said that BJP is in habit of shunting stalwart leaders, including Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi etc. Sartaj Singh is one strong leader and now he is the Congress candidate from Hoshangabad seat.
