When city celebrated Diwali, Fire Deptt staff ensured people’s safety

While people were totally absorbed in Diwali celebrations, employees of Fire Department remained vigilant and were on duty to tackle any untoward incident. The employees were on 24 hours duty during Diwali festival as the chances of occurrence of mishaps are more due to firecrackers and short circuit cases. A total 170 fire employees remained on duty during Diwali festival.

For these employees duty comes first as they were away from their family and relatives at work to ensure safety of people of the city. The Fire Department has to make prior preparations for Diwali celebrations to face any mishap. The administration had geared up before the festival to prevent the city from any mishap. The employees were deployed at seven different places on duty to manage any emergency like situation.

The employees were also deployed near firecrackers market which are vulnerable to mishaps. Besides, employees from other departments like Electricity Department, Police Department, district administration were also deployed on the occasion. A total of 10 fire tenders and water tankers with fire brigade employees were deployed to face any kind of trouble caused by fire mishaps. Most of the fire mishaps occur during celebration due to firecrackers, particularly use of rockets and ‘Akashdeep’ which can fall anywhere.

If they get misdirected and fall on inflammable material it can lead to fire. People were advised to adopt precautionary measures while bursting crackers to avoid mishaps. People were asked to use decorative lightings properly with insulated joints at a safe distance from wooden material, cloth, tents so as to avoid mishap.
