THE on-line recruitment activities in the first nine months of this year have grown by 5 per cent year-on-year, led by a 54 per cent growth in e-hiring by the production and manufacturing sector, a report said on Thursday. The home appliance sector was the second best e-recruiter at 39 per cent, according to the Monster Employment Index (MEI) for January to September 2018.

Other sectors that registered high on-line hiring demand in the reporting period were telecom (26 per cent), retail (23 per cent) and BFSI (23 per cent).

Monster.Com’s Asia Pacific and Gulf Chief Executive Officer, Abhijeet Mukherjee, said the high on-line hiring activity seen in the production and manufacturing sector is indicative of the efforts by the Government to boost manufacturing throughout 2018. “On the other hand, decline in the on-line hiring growth momentum from double digit (13 per cent) in Q1 2018 to a negative growth of 4 per cent in Q3 could have been due to low volume of demand from sectors such as engineering and construction, healthcare, BPO or ITES and IT sectors,” he said. The on-line hiring demand in 2018 has been mostly driven by tier-II cities, the report said.
