PSGI employees demand final option of pension

Joint Forum of Unions and Associations of Officers & Employees of Public Sector General Insurance (PSGI) companies had given directives to public sector general insurance employees all over the country to hold 4th phase nation-wide lunch hour demonstrations on Wednesday.
They are demanding final option of pension, immediate discussion on wage revision pending since August 2017 and to strengthen public sector general insurance companies. To focus their demands and against callous attitude of Government and management, aggravated PSGI employees and officers at Nagpur protested before the Regional Office of United India Insurance Co. Ltd., situated at Shankar Nagar, during lunch hour.


A meeting was organised after the protest demonstrations, in which Avinash Pultamkar of General Insurance Pensioners Association (GIPA), Rajendra Saroj of National Insurance Company Officers Association(NICOA), Milind Wasnik, Organising Secretary of Eastern Maharashtra Bank Employees Association (EMBEA) and Pradeep Dharamthok, Working President of General Insurance Employees' All India Association (GIEAIA), addressed the gathering.
Pultamkar praised the announcement of Chief Minister of Delhi to govern all employees under previous pension scheme. Rajendra Saroj appealed the gathering to remain united to get success against Government’s anti employees policies.


Milind Wasnik in his address said that financial sector is the backbone of the Indian economy. He said that bank employees support the struggle of PSGI employee and assured to fight together to strengthen public sector financial institutions.


He further informed that all Central Trade Unions (CTUs) have decided to go on two-day strike on January 8 and January 9, 2019. He congratulated PSGI employees for successfully organizing such a huge programme of protest.
Pradeep Dharamthok said, “We are still waiting for the announcement of one more pension option to PSGI companies which was assured by Finance Minister Arun Jaitely in the meeting with Joint Forum.”


He said, “Only by way of struggle on roads, we can achieve our demands and save public sector.” He gave confidence by saying, “Earlier also we have achieved a lot more by the way of struggle only.” He appealed the employees to participate in a large number in dharna organised by the Joint Forum on December 19. Employees, officers from all the PSGI companies in the city and retired employees participated in large number in demonstrations.


Prashant Dixit, Joint Secretary, General Insurance Employees’ Union (WZ), Chandrakant Deshpande, Arvind Sambre, Deepak Gotmare, Liladhar Nimje, Prakash Kanade, Onkar Shende, Anil Ghodmare, Shyam Parate, Anand Telang, Homraj Ade, Kamlakar Lichade, Prashant Chanore and Sanjay Ghhatat took efforts for success of programme.
