MICON 2018 by RCOEM, CII & UDC, USA concludes

MANAGEMENT International Conference (MICON) 2018 on ‘Emerging Trends in Human Resource Management’ jointly organised by Department of Management Technology (DMT), Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (RCOEM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and University of District of Columbia (UDC), USA concluded on Saturday at Hotel Tuli Imperial.  In his presidential address, Satyanarayan Nuwal, Chairman, Solar Group and Vice-Chairman, RCOEM, congratulated the organisers of the conference for bringing Nagpur on international map and appreciated the theme of the conference which was relevant to the dynamic Human Resource (HR) scenario.


The opening remarks were given by Rahul Dixit, CII Vidarbha Zonal Council and Convenor MICON 2018. He said, “HR is a link between employees and the vision of the organisation.”  The chief guest for the function was Dr Vinod Khare, Executive Director (WR), PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd. He appreciated the level of deliberations conducted during the two day conference.  Sarang Sawangikar, AVP, Admin, VIPL was felicitated for his valuable inputs and contribution in making MICON 2018 successful at the hands Satyanarayan Nuwal.


Under the banner of MICON a competition on ‘Best HRM Practices’ was organised in which 10 teams from industry participated. The first prize was won by team from Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd, first runner up was Spacewood Furnishers Pvt Ltd and second runner up was Persistent Systems Ltd.


The ‘People’s Choice Award’ for best presentation was bagged by Torana Inc. A poster competition for the students was also organised on the theme of conference.
Judges for the competition were Ajit Deshpande, National Cancer Institute and Suneet Menon, Senior Manager Human Resource, Bajaj Steel. The winners were Aditi Agrawal and Divya Phate on topic ‘Employee Engagement’, first runner up was Annie Thomas and Diksha Pandey on ‘Managing Millenials’ and second runner up was Bhumika Nagrani and Chaitanya Gupta on ‘Stress, Health and Happiness’.


Earlier in the day a panel discussion on ‘Next Generation HR Leadership’ was organised.The panel members consisted of Rajat Kapoor, Founder Director, Ascent Business Solutions, Sameer Bendre, Chief People Officer, Persistent Systems Ltd, Umesh Jadhav, Director HR, Calderys India Refractories Ltd and Santosh Dwivedi, DGM HR, Solar Industries India Ltd. The session was moderated by Vijay Phanshikar, Editor-The Hitavada.  The office bearers of CII Rahul Dixit and Abhaya Singh, Head Vidarbha Zone CII were felicitated by Satyanarayan Nuwal.


The conference summary was presented by Dr Rajiv Khaire, Organising Secretary of MICON 2018.  The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Chandan Vichoray, Co-Convenor MICON 2018. The function was compered by Dr Vandana Gandhi.
