Happy people don’t accept change; they embrace it

MEDITATION

Mark Twain wrote: “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that but the really great make you feel that you too can become great. It is better to stay away from negative people. It is nearly impossible because negative people sometimes include family and friends. It seems that some people’s mission in life is to take you down a step or two! That is because they feel inferior to you. The only way they can build themselves up is by bringing you down. They can’t see themselves accomplishing anything great and so they don’t want you to either.

Successful people want you to be a success too. They will share whatever time and resources they have to help you accomplish your goals. They will listen to what you have to say because they feel that they can learn something from you as well. Negative people drain your battery. Positive people are like a generator; they recharge your battery. We all need to ask ourselves if we are positive or negative people. Do people walk away charged-up or drained after a visit with us. Do we encourage others and make them great? Associate with great people and you will become great in the process.

Failure and success are directly proportional. Risk a little and enjoy a little success. Risk much and enjoy much. If you want to enjoy the highest degree of success, then you must be willing to risk the highest degree of failure. It often takes something traumatic to put failure in perspective. Sometimes, someone calls-up and says that there was an accident but there was no injury. We can replace material things but people cannot be replaced. There is only one life to live and therefore why not live the way you want.

William James wrote: “These, are my last words to you. Be not afraid of life. Believe life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact”. Life is not a spectator sport; life is to be experienced. Why don’t we accomplish more, achieve more and specifically live more. Fear turns us into spectators in life instead of participants. Fear of the unknown, fear of change, fear of success, fear of failure and fear of rejection always invade our thoughts. To overcome these fears, you are on your way of living life to the fullest. Be not afraid of life. Believe life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.

When you are down, you grab at straws and end-up with the wrong straw. Build your own success which can raise you from dumps to great heights. Good habits are difficult to acquire but easy to live with. Bad habits are easy to acquire but difficult to live with. All bad habits start slowly and gradually and before you know that you have the habit, the habit has you. Most people hypnotise themselves into getting things they don’t want instead of getting things they want.

My friend used to say “Don’t take any problems to bed with you. While going to bed, relive happy experiences and put disagreeable experiences aside. Good things happen to people who cultivate good thoughts and expect good things. Put something into life and you can get something out of life. You can’t get something for nothing. Some people’s minds are like concrete permanently set. The mind is like a parachute and functions when it is open.”

Work is the price we enjoy to travel the highway of success. Many people believe that success is dependent upon the glands and it is true that it is sweat glands. Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation. You become the champion by fighting one more round. You have to prime the pump before water will flow. You have to put in something before something comes out. Put something into life before you can expect to get anything out of it. The champion puts in a great deal of himself in the form of sweat and effort before he could stand on the victory stand! The aim of life should be to reach the summit.

Our life will truly work only when we take full responsibility for our choices. If you have lost your life’s direction, you can rediscover it. We underestimate our talents. Do what we can do. Talent is useful but it is not everything. Remember, that you are competing in this world against people who love what they are doing. A man went to Japan to learn karate. He said “how long will it take? I will work hard. The reply came it may take 10 years. The man said “I will work day and night”. Reply came “It will take twenty years”. It is not the time factor but the opportunity you grasp!
