MP Hasthashilp ewam Hathkargha Mela 2018 begins

Bringing ethnic richness in handicraft and handloom items from different parts of the country, the Madhya Pradesh Hasthashilp ewam Hathkargha Mela 2018 opened at Gole Bazar, Shaheed Smarak, on Thursday.
Ongoing exhibition cum sale of genuine handicraft and handloom items at Golebazar has wide collection of ethnic-rich handicraft and handloom material brought by the weavers and artisans for the art-loving residents of Jabalpur. In this, world famous Chanderi saris having design of 1930 era as well as Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar’s famous city of Maheshwar, the Maheshwari saris, cotton bedsheets of Pandhana, Baghprint and batique from Indore, Ujjain as well as Malwa region’s special variety of Kosa Silk of Waraseoni with various other specialities from Rewa, Satna, Budhnighat’s wooden toys for kids. In Maheshwari saris, the beautiful designs inspired with natural beauty on the banks of river Narmada would be main attraction of the show.


The grand exhibition was opened by the senior artists and participants, including Khemchand Koli, Ashok Koli, Mohd. Sarfaraz, Rizwan and Suresh Kulshrestha.  The entry and parking for the show would remain free for the visitors.  M L Sharma, Mela Organiser and Coordinator informed that the Madhya Pradesh Government has taken an initiative to encourage artisans, handicraft and handloom workers weaving art and to provide quality, but genuine material to customers directly. The exhibition is being planned across the State.


Eminent officials who were present in opening included Mrignayani Emporium’s Pradeep Koshta, Ramcharan Patel, Munnidra Upadhyay, Hasthakargha office, Deputy Director, M L Bangde were present.


M L Sharma appealed the art-loving residents of the city to visit the ongoing exhibition to choose best and genuine material directly from the State and nationally acclaimed and awarded artisans of Madhya Pradesh. Besides this, mouth-watering dishes of Rajasthan would add excitement to the visit.
