‘No decision on liquor ban so far’

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday clarified that the State government has not taken any decision on imposing ban on sale of liquor in the State, so far. 

Talking to media persons here, Chief Minister Baghel said that the old liquor policy would remain effective till the time a new liquor policy is not introduced by the State government. It may be noted that at present, liquor is being sold in state government-run liquor shops, by scrapping tender process.

Amid speculation of bringing old tender policy to sell liquor, Baghel said that the Excise Department would review its decision and the matter would be brought into the cabinet. After that, the cabinet will take final decision on liquor policy.

Responding to a query on the State government initiating investigation again on Civil Supplies Scam, the Chief Minister said that the police had recorded the statements of a few persons, whose names were found in the dairy, and few persons were left out.

“Now, the people of the state have right to know reality of the scam. So the police should interrogate some accused in the
matter to bring reality,” he added.

Notifcation issued for registration of new brands, labels

Excise Department, Government of Chhattisgarh has issued a notification for registration of new brands and labels of imported foreign liquors. In its order, the Commissioner of Excise Department clarified that the notification was issued only for new brands and labels of imported foreign liquor, manufactured in India or other countries. The order is not related to the tender process and retail sale of foreign and country made liquors.
