‘Social crusader DSR Dikshitulu will be remembered forever’

Dantu Sita Rama Dikshitulu, 93, was born on May 28, 1925, at Mandapeta, east Godavari district. He is the founder of Kunavaram High School and is a well-known person in Khammam district. Kunavaram and near by villages know him as Dikshitulu Mastaru, a popular name. When he joined the Kunavaram school, he is the only teacher who was teaching all the subjects. Kunavaram school and Dikshitulu Mastaru are just like synonyms. He retired from high school at Dendukuru near Madhira in 1982. However, he served at Kunavaram school for about 30 years. Even after retirement he continued to teach the students up to post graduation on various subjects and on speaking English. He has written many books on English grammar and Telugu poems etc.

For the last 20 years he has been residing in Bhopal with his son. He has been an eminent teacher in Andhra Pradesh, who served in education department for more than 50 years. He died on December 16, 2018 in Delhi due to paralytic stroke and subsequent to aspiration pneumonia after struggling 38 days in Apollo Hospital, Delhi.

DSR Dikshitulu served more than 50 years for uplift of schools and teaching generations of students. Today, his students are at higher positions at various places and he was always proud of his students’ progress. He was not only a teacher but also he worked for the development of society. Dikshitulu had made many rescue operations during river Godavari floods or during fire accidents and saved many lives and property along with his students. He was a trained first aid expert and treated many instantly and helped the people.

He was a good patriot. He participated during independence struggle in the rallies when Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji visited his home town. He inspired his students with patriotism and for respect towards his country, India explaining his experiences and about leaders sacrificed for independence. For number of students he financed for studies for upper education and in fact he accommodated for many students for residing at his home for studies.

His wife, D Surya Kumari all the time encouraged him and provides food for the students. His ideal teaching skills with noble thoughts gave him with title of ‘Ideal Teacher’ by all his student community. His son, Dr Muralikrishna. recently made the audio and book on Bhagavadgita which was appreciated by Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu and the Governor of Madhya Pradesh Anandiban Patel and many others when met them along with his father.

His son always told it all because of the education given by his father, DSR Dikshitulu. Many of his students felt shock by his departure and prayed his soul rest in peace.
