Staff Reporter,

BHILAI,

BEING it last week of the year, clearing pending cases at police station level is the top priority. The police officials and personnel at each police station are fast clearing the pending cases to avoid adverse remarks in their Annual Confidential Report.

In compliance of directives of senior officials, the police officials and personnel at the police stations in personal supervision of Station House Officers (SHOs) are fast working for final disposal of the cases along with producing challans and necessary proceedings for ensuring zero pending. The sources said that in case of pending cases over 10 percent at individual level or at the police station level there is provisions of punitive measures and similarly rewards and citations in case of satisfactory performance.

The sources told the newspaper that among the crimes those of missing of minors and gory crimes ought to be cleared in given time. However, in case of pending autopsy reports in spite of pursuing and prolonged hospital admission of victim or accused could be considered in such cases as genuine obstruction in clearing pending but there would be zero tolerance for negligence or dillydally attitude leading to piling of pending case.

Similarly, in cases of unnatural deaths if autopsy report or viscera reports is laying pending. With the beginning of New Year, the individual and police stations would also be awarded on basis of performance evaluation, the sources said.

When contacted, Vijay Pandey, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) informed that however, the clearance of pending cases round the year facilitates in achieving desired crime detection rate but during last month of year possibility of getting adverse remark in Annual Confidential Report against pending cases works as deterrent at police station level. There would be least tolerance for pending in cases of missing of minors and gory crime, added ASP (City), Pandey.
