THE disruption in potable water supply continued to persist in affected areas of BSP Township, following leakage in main supply pipelines in Maroda area in Bhilai. However, Public Health Engineering (PHE) of Town Services Department officials assured that the hampered water supply would be normalised in the minimum possible time. According to information, PHE, BSP officials working on war footing for normalising the water supply in affected areas of the township.

With the leakage developed in the main supply lines, initially the officials to workout temporary arrangements for water supply in affected areas by laying temporary pipelines and pressing water tankers into services. However, water supply through grid lines and water tankers was resumed in most areas, affected due to the adverse development, but the work was in progress for fully normalising regular water supply.

The sources said that the main supply pipeline, which developed leakage was below the high rise illegal construction, and as part of makeshift arrangements the officials blocked the defunct line and worked out the plan for laying temporary lines.

In the meantime, as part of measures for normalising the water supply, officials prepared a correct map of pipe line, and chalked out the course of new installation of pipeline.

In the affected location, as part of permanent solution, the PHE team is undertaking work for laying the pipeline of similar diameter while linking it with main supply line to Ruabandha, Bhilai for ensuring the water supply with normal pressure, possibly by Sunday evening.
