Man involved in illegal trade of firearms held

Combine team of Special Task Force (STF) and Omti police nabbed a man involved in firearms trade and seized two country-made pistols, two country-made revolvers and five live cartridges from him. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Abrar alias Chappan (32), son of Mohammed Israel, a resident of behind Abdulla Hotel in Moharia, Hanumantal.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Deepak Kumar Shukla disclosed this while addressing a press conference, on Friday. ASP, Shukla informed that in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, STF Jabalpur’s ASI, Nissar Ali given information about a suspected man carrying illegal fire arms in a bag was sight in front of Church near Bhanwartal Garden.

Acting promptly on the information, a combine team of STF and Omti police started a search and succeeded in trapping the suspected man who named himself as Mohammed Abrar alias Chappan. In his search, police team seized two country-made revolvers, two country-made pistols and five live cartridges from him. Omti police arrested the accused and registered a case against him under Section 25/27 of the Arms Act and started further investigation.

Investigating the case, police learnt that he purchased pistols from Damoh district at the rate of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 for selling them at the rate of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 and revolver at the rate of Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 for selling the same at Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.

The accused was apprehended with active working of police team led by SHO of Omti police station, Neeraj Verma and STF, Inspector, Hariom Dixit, STF’s ASI, Nissar Ali, Raghuveer Singh, Constables, Nirmal Singh, Rajan Pandey, Vinod Patel, Manish Tiwari, Jitendra Singh, Govind Suryavanshi and Omti’s SI, Rakesh Singh Baghel, ASI and Vinod Pathak.
