‘Motivate people to participate in change in approach to devpt’

THE social work students should be trained in motivating people for creating wealth from the waste. This will helping enerating employmentinrural area and also to overcome agrarian crisis, Union Minister for Surface Transport, Shipping and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari said. This can be done by using proper technology, which is available.

Gadkari quoted several experiment swhichha s been initiated for reducing import cost, high prices of production and also reducing pollution.The main thrust was on production of biofuel, using non-edible oil seeds. The social work educators can train the students in identifying technology which could be used forameliorationof the economically weaker sections.

Gadkari was delivering lecture on ‘People centric, eco-friendly infrastructural development’, during National Conference of MaharashtraAssociation of Social Work Educators (MASWE), on Saturday. Quoting use of 25% bioaviation fuel by Spice jet,treatment of waste water and supplying to power generation, producing amino acid fromwaste hair, effective disposal of hazardous solid waste, Gadkari said that plantation of plants like Jatropa, Karanj, Ratanjyot in barren land can help in earning revenue, generate employment and also manageeco logical balance.

The people in rural area can be motivated bythe social work teachers and student. He informed about installation of biodigesters invariouspartsofthe country for earning money from the wastes. The Self-Help Groups can handle several such projects, including collection of solid wastes, segregating it and supplying to biodigesters. Gadkari also narrated change of plan of Delhi Mumbai Highway to cover backward areas. This has reduced cost for acquiring the land, reduced distance and also generate employment in the backward areas. Founder President of MASWE Ambadas Mohite felicitated Gadkari. A souvenir was also released at the hands of Gadkari on the occasion.
