Food poison kills one, 5 others critical

A fifteen year old teen girl identified as Savita Sahu of Village Chulghan in Patan block of Durg district died of suspected food poisoning on Saturday morning. While her other family members are also critical and under observation of doctors in Shri Pandurang Ramarao Dongaonkar (SPRD) District Hospital Durg. Later Chief Minister of state and MLA of Patan constituency, Bhupesh Baghel visited hospital and met patients and also took their health status from civil surgeon Dr K K Jain as well as other medical officials.

As per information, family members had consumed Beans curry on Friday’s dinner and also on Saturday’s lunch.
Later all of six family members complained of severe stomach pain and rushed all of them into Community Health Centre Patan. After seeing their condition critical, medical officials of Community Health Centre Patan referred them into SPRD district hospital. But medical officials of SPRD hospital pronounced Savita Sahu, daughter of Sudarshan Sahu dead on arrival in noon hours of Saturday. The other family members, Sudarshan Sahu, Pratima Sahu, Dujaram Sahu, Sahibeen Sahu, wife of Dujaram Sahu and Rani Sahu, daughter of Sudarshan Sahu have been admitted to casualty of SPRD hospital.

The police have registered a case of accidental death. Dr K K Jain, civil surgeon of SPRD district hospital informed that it is the case of suspected food poisoning and all of patients are undergoing treatment under the observation of medical officials at casualty of district hospital.

Later in evening, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel arrived at hospital to meet patients and also expressed his sorrow over death of teen girl. He met all other patients and also took information about their health status, reports and medication from civil surgeon as well as other senior medical officials of the hospital.
