Severe cold wave conditions hit normal life across State

Most regions of Madhya Pradesh are reeling under the grip of severe cold wave. Intense cold has literally derailed normal life as people are shivering round the clock. In many districts, cold has broken records of last many years. Severe cold wave prevailed in Seoni, Betul, Khajuraho, etc. The lowest minimum temperature of 1 degree was recorded in Khajuraho and Umaria. Owing to severe cold, dew turned into thin ice in sundry parts of State.


In the meantime, Bhopal witnessed sunny day on Sunday. The warmth of sunrays provided some relief from intense cold to people. Then also, people could not shelve the warm clothes as cold was biting the skin. Bhopal shivered at minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal. Maximum temperature of city was recorded at 23.9 degrees Celsius, 1 degree below normal. Cold is severe in Jabalpur also. It’s minimum temperature plummeted to 3.9 degrees Celsius, 6 degrees below normal level. Its maximum temperature was 21.8 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees below normal.


In last twenty-four hours, weather conditions remained dry in State. Maximum temperature of Narsinghpur dropped significantly to give torrid time to people. Weather Department said that cold wave persisted in most parts of State.


The warning issued by Weather Department says that, cold wave is likely in some parts of Ujjain, Rewa, Jabalpur and Sagar divisions and districts including Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Harda, Rajgarh, Dhar, Dewas, Datia, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Chhattarpur, Betul, Hoshangabad, Seoni and Umaria respectively. Frost is likely in sundry parts of Rajgarh, Dewas, Shajapur, Ratlam, Ujjain, Umaria, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhattarpur, Damoh, Gwalior, Datia and Hoshangabad districts. The sigh of relief for people is this that temperatures are likely to increase partially.


The local forecast for Bhopal says that sky would be clear and winds will blow at the speed of 10 km per hour. City’s minimum temperature will be around 8 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperature will be around 24 degrees Celsius. As bone-biting cold is continuing for the last many days in State, people are seen talking that such kind of intense cold is being experienced by them after the gap of many years. In the wake of severe cold, roads of markets have started to wear deserted look in Bhopal by 9 pm. Otherwise, Bhopal used to experience the hustle bustle with cacophony of people till late night.


Over all, cold wave is sweeping entire Madhya Pradesh. Minimum temperatures have dropped to lowest level in many parts of State. For instance, Malajkhand, Naugaon, Datia shivered at minimum temperature of 2 degrees Celsius respectively. Rewa, Damoh, Betul and Gwalior battled with cold at minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius. Weather Department said that, there will be no respite from bone-biting cold as temperatures are likely to remain same for at least one or two days more.
