Two killed, three injured in head-on auto-truck collision

Two persons, including a woman, were killed while three escaped with injuries when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction near Bhadbhada police outpost under Ratibad Police Station on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred near Bhadbhada police outpost under Ratibad police station at around 4 pm and after the collision the drivers of both the vehicles fled the crime scene.
The deceased have been identified as Shakuntala Bai (40), wife of Premnarayan of Ratibad village, and Kapil Patel (24), son of Kamal Singh, resident of Neelbad area.
They were heading towards Nehru Nagar in the auto along with three others including another woman Savita Chandravanshi (42) and two men, Premnarayan and Gaurishankar.

According to Ratibad police, the truck was carrying iron rods and was coming from Neelbad-Ratibad side while the auto that was newly purchased and without registration number was coming from the side of Bhopal having five passengers, including two women and three men.  In the collision with truck, the auto skidded into the roadside ditch and stopped after hitting a tree while the truck too overturned there. The cover of the auto was removed by locals to extricate the bodies out of it.

According to SHO of Ratibad Suneel Bhadauria, the truck laden with iron roads and the auto collided near a turn under the Bhadbhada outpost of Ratibad police station. He said the vehicles were in a very high speed which led to the collision.

The auto was damaged badly and the bodies were stuck into it. The cover of the auto was removed and the bodies were taken out by locals and police was informed subsequently. After receiving information the victims were rushed to Hamidia Hospital with the help of ambulance where two of them were declared dead and three others were reported critical.

Ratibad police have approached the owner of truck after the driver fled while a case of negligent driving causing death has been filed against the two drivers. The two have also been booked under other relevant sections of the IPC. Meanwhile, in another incident that took place in Enkhedi where a farmer was killed and three others injured in head-on collision of two bikes, police said on Tuesday. Deceased farmer Sanjay Kushwaha was resident of Gunga and he was heading towards home from a bridge at Lambakheda when his bike collided with other motorbike on which Ashok, Manohar and Mukesh were present. After the mishap, all of four injured were taken to nearby hospital where Ashok, Manohar and Mukesh who sustained minor injuries were discharged but Sanjay succumbed to the head injury while undergoing treatment.
