City’s Ritu Malhotra gets CII Startup Award

CITY girl, Ritu Malhotra, founder of city startup EzySpit has been conferred with the ‘Top Women of the Year 2018 Startup Award’ at the Global Future Business Forum programme organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on December 3, New Delhi.

Ritu Malhotra received the award by the hands of Prof K Vijay Raghawan, Principal Chief Scientific Advisor to Govt of India and Kris Gopalakrishna, Chairman, CII Startup Council. She got a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh. The award was sponsored by Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. Ritu Malhotra was one of three women startups among 400 applicants from across the country.

Ritu Malhotra was asked to give a presentation about her invention to the audience. She said, “EzySpit is world’s first spit pack. The is a unique product which helps in avoiding spitting in public place or making walls red all over. Spitting and liquid waste in the street is one of the growing concerns of sanitation issues around the world.”

EzySpit, Ezy Liquid Disposal Bin, EzyVomit Bag and Ezy Urine Bag are the various the products she has invented. The new invention absorbs liquid, converts into granules and does not let the germs of dangerous diseases spread in air. It is tamper proof, spill proof (can be used multiple times), odour free and gives out fragrance. It is made of bio-degradable material after complete use it gets converted into fertiliser.

“EzySpit is for persons who want to spit, can carry this pouch with themselves and whenever they want to spit they can spit in the pouch,” she said. Similarly, those travelling in car or in office can keep EzySpit glass with them and spit in that glass. For public places or big buildings there is EzySpit Bin. Person can spit in EzySpit bin every day the cleaning person can change the bowl inside that bin.

“In this way, patients suffering from TB, cancer or any other disease where lot of spitting takes place can be done in this EzySpit product,” she pointed out.
Ezy Liquid Disposal Bin is for restaurants, hotels, railway stations and public places (for disposal of tea, coffee etc.) and Ezy Vomit Bag can be used in buses, airlines and pregnant women.

EzySpit has various benefits like reducing 99 per cent risk of spreading viral diseases like swine flu, tuberculosis, TB, pneumonia etc., and contribute to smart city concept by keeping clean and hygienic environment. “The new invention can save millions of litres of water used for cleaning spit marks and liquid waste. It can also save revenue used for cleaning the public places. It can improve cleanliness in the city and ultimately ensure citizen satisfaction. Also, it will improve ecology and environment of a river flowing through city areas.” she added.

On the occasion, present were B C Bhartia, mentor and National President of CAIT and Pratik Harde, Co-founder.
She thanked CII and Godrej Consumer Products Ltd for the award. She also thanked Prateek Malhotra, Poonam Khandelwal, VCAT, Nagpur and Chetan Bhartia for their support.
