Man’s body, woman’s burnt body found

Sensation prevailed among locals in Katara Hills area after a partially decomposed body of a man was found floating in a canal (nahar) at Barrai Square on Wednesday morning. The identity of deceased couldn’t be established yet. The body was sent for the post-mortem examination.

The police recovered no identity related documents from his bag, but a switched-off mobile phone was recovered from the pocket of his trouser. The police have been trying to ascertain identity of the deceased through this mobile phone, said police sources. A 46-year old man named Bhagwat Patel, resident of Barrai village, who works in a private firm, first saw the body floating in the canal at around 7:30 am while he was going to drop his children to school and informed the police.

The police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. The body was over 24 hours old. According to the police sources, by seeing the body on primafacie we couldn’t deny the case of murder and investigation on this angle is also on because the depth of canal is only 2.5 feet and how a man can drown in it. SHO Katara Hills K L Dangi said the circumstantial evidences suggest that the deceased died around 24 hours around but reason behind the death remained unknown.

The possibility of deceased was poisoned and dumped could not be ruled out but nothing could not be ascertained as the post-mortem report is awaited. The deceased was in the age group of 30-35 years and came to work in the State capital. One missing person who hails from Rajasthan and came to Bhopal after marriage around four years ago is one possibility which is under investigation and after his family members would confirm details could be shared, he added.

In an another incident on Wednesday, Ratibad police recovered a half-burnt body of a 65- year old women from her house in Kalkheda village. The deceased was identified as Ramkali Bai, 65, wife of Imrat. The body was sent for the post mortem. According to Ratibad police, the villagers informed about the incident and when they reached the spot, the policemen found half-burn body of Bai near mud stove. The villagers told police, Bai lived with her unmarried physically challenged 40-year old daughter in her house in the village and was upset with her ailing health. SHO of Ratibad Suneel Bhadoriya said, “We are probing the case on all the dimensions. It could be a suicide or anything else.”
