‘MSMEs should avail benefits of Govt schemes’

GOVERNMENT has introduced various schemes for the holistic development of the MSME sector in the country. It is providing services like skill development, export promotion activities and giving special benefits in order to develop the MSME sector. “MSMEs should avail various Government schemes and take benefit for their development,” said P T Doifode, Assistant Director MSME–Development Institute, Nagpur while speaking at a programme on ‘Govt schemes for MSME sector’ recently organised by The Institute of Indian Foundrymen (IIF) Nagpur Chapter. The programme was conducted with an objective help its members know more about current schemes of the Government for MSME units.


“Government is committed to ensure systematic growth of the MSME sector through the Office of Development Commissioner (DC) MSME. The office will show how MSMEs can get benefit of the various schemes. He also gave a presentation on the different works being carried out in Vidarbha region and roles and schemes offered by the Government.


Yogita Kasture, Nagpur Representative of GIZ India informed about the role of GIZ India for development of small entrepreneurs and various initiatives they are extending for their development. She also highlighted how they are trying to link academia with industry by giving different projects to various colleges to come up with solutions on problems being faced by industries. She emphasised on formation of clusters for development of industries.


She said that GIZ India can help in carrying out R&D activities through academic institutes and other national/international experts at their cost.
R G Paranjpe, Chairman of IIF Nagpur Chapter emphasised that MSMEs should take advantage of of various Government schemes. “MSMEs are small but important stones in the strata of economic development of the nation. They are the major source of employment generation and play a vital role in local development. MSMEs have emerged as a highly vibrant and dynamic sector of the Indian economy over the last few decades,” he said.


“In recent past the Government has announced a major thrust for this sector by announcing Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme and is committed for ensuring systematic growth of this sector,” he said.


“In 2006, Parliament enacted MSMED Act which provides much needed legal cover to this sector as large scale industries are exploiting this sector. The Act apart from defining the MSMEs which also extends to service sector. Generally people used to think that MSME is for manufacturing sector only but that is not true,” he pointed out.
Chandrashekhar Mankar, Council Member of IIF, Nagpur Chapter was the Master of Ceremony for this event while Gautam Roy, Secretary of IIF, Nagpur Chapter proposed a vote of thanks.
