Naxalite couple held in Ballarpur

THE Naxal Cell and C-60 team arrested two hardcore Naxalities including a member of Central Committee and Area Committee, at Ballarpur tehsil on Friday.
The arrested outlaws are Ramana alias Shrinivas Vitthalanna Madru (65) and his wife Padma alias Minti Dobya Kodape (55). They were wanted in multiple cases in Gadchiroli.
District Superintendent of Police Niyati Thaker, informed that the two cadres are members of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee and Area Committee.


According to information given by sources in Police Department, following the inputs, cops of Naxal Cell and C-60 intercepted Ramana and Padma, who were going from Allapalli to Hyderabad on Friday. They were taken into custody.
Ramana, who is head of the ‘technical cell’ of Naxals, has a reward of Rs 25 lakh and Padma has Rs 6 lakh on her head.

He supervised rifle-making and rifle-use training for cadres while his wife was involved in many encounters, police added. Meanwhile, cops found Rs 50,000 cash and two pendrives from them at Ballarpur which revealed that the two used to allegedly give technical support like assembling and disassembling of weapons and wireless support.

After necessary formalities, both were handed over to Gadchiroli Police. Police Sub Inspector Dharmendra Madavi of Naxal Cell and other cops attached with C-60 took part in the action on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh police have sent a team to Gadchiroli to interrogate the couple and to check if he is Tech Ramanna, who was active member of Dandakaranya zone and carries rewards of more than Rs 50 lakh in Chhattisgarh.


In a telephonic talk AIB (Naxal ops) Devnath informed ‘The Hitavada’, Raipur office, that the Naxal arrested is not the Tech Ramanna they are looking for. But further interrogations will be done to find out if he was involved in some activities in Chhattisgarh area.
