Bastar and Surguja will get benefits beyond the imagination of Cong: CM

Displaying his generosity, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh appreciated the Opposition for their patience during his budget speech. In fact, the Chief Minister said this in a lighter vein during an exchange of words with Congress leader Satyanarayan Sharma. As Chief Minister’s Budget speech lasted for nearly one and a half hours in the House on Friday, MLA Sharma in the midst suggested CM to have some water and take a breath.

In quick response, the Chief Minister said, “You (Opposition) all listening to me so patiently and thus I do not need water. I thank you all for the same.” The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to say that the entire Opposition will be satisfied once the budget presentation is over when the opposition leader Dhanendra Sahu tried to interrupt.

In the meantime, MLA Satyanarayan Sharma stood up demanding a ban on liquor which was responded by Minister
Prem Prakash Pandey who said that the same should have been done during Sharma’s tenure as Excise Minister. On Deputy Leader of Opposition Kawasi Lakhma’s quip on sops for Bastar, Chief Minister said, “Tum Ko Itna Denge ki Sambhal Nahin Paoge” (you will get enough which you cannot digest). Elaborating further, the Chief Minister said Bastar and Surguja will get benefits beyond imagination of Congress.

Lakhma also raised the issue of hike in MLA Fund during the budget presentation. Independent MLA Vimal Chopda also raised the liquor ban issue. Further, on the demand of repetition of budget speech by Deputy Leader of Opposition Kawasi Lakhma, Chief Minister in lighter vein said that the Leader of Opposition T S Singhdeo is sharp in listening and the opposition colleagues can ask him.

When the Chief Minister was reading MNREGA provision in the budget, the Leader of Opposition interrupted him (CM) saying he forgot to mention M. The Chief Minister, however, said that he read it Mahatma Gandhi NREGA instead of MNREGA. “We have no problem with Mahastma Gandhi. Rather, Congress has the problems with Him as Gandhiji had once said that Congress should be immersed.The Chief Minister further said that BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
