Over 47,962 cases settled in National Lok Adalat

FIRST National Lok Adalat of the year organised under direction of Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman of National Legal Service Authority (NLSA) New Delhi under guidance of Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice S K Seth Chairman, Administrative Judge and Executive Chairman, Madhya Pradesh State Legal Service Authority in the State was successful with disposal of around 47,962 matters pertaining to court cases and other matters at pre-litigation state on Saturday.

Special division benches were constituted for disposal of cases at principal seat of Madhya Pradesh High Court, Indore and Gwalior benches along with all District Courts, Tehsil Courts, Labour and Family Courts in Madhya Pradesh, said Member Secretary of MPSLSA Brajendra Singh Bhadoria while addressing a press conference. He said the mega event was an outcome of dedicated efforts of judicial officers, advocates and members of administration who worked in a co-ordinated manner to help litigants in arriving at amicable settlement which resulted in disposal of several cases rapidly.

Cases were criminal compoundable cases, cases under Section 138, MACT cases, marriage disputes, labour dispute cases, land acquisition cases, civil, revenue, electricity, water tax, sales tax, income tax, indirect tax, cases related to post retirement benefits, service cases which are related to post retirement calamity compensation, civil appeal, second appeal, petitions, MACT appeal before the High Court and other civil and public related disputes. Bhadoria said that nearly 3,27,417 cases were taken up at pre-litigation stage during National Lok Adalat. Of the same, nearly 29,443 cases were disposed and amount of Rs 33,10,79,607 was settled.

Likewise, out of 2,09,678 cases of settlement which were lying pending in various courts, as many as 18,519 cases were disposed and award of Rs 1,26,71,47,170 was issued. Thus, total 5,37,095 cases were taken up in National Lok Adalat amongst the same 47,962 cases were disposed and awards of Rs 1,59,82,26,777 were issued. Office-bearers of MPSLSA present on the occasion were Assistant Secretary, Kailash Shukla, Legal Aid Officer, Poonam Tiwari, Rajesh Kumar Saxena, Manish Kaushik, Ranjeet Singh Parihar, Dr Ratnesh Dixit and others.
