Rendering their support to their counter-parts who staged a two-day protest at Bhopal for their demands, the Jabalpur unit of Atithi Vidvan Mahasangh will conduct a condolence meeting at the Government Model Science College on Tuesday at 11.30 am.The condolence meeting is the outcome of the ‘Mundan Rasm’ performed by 14 members of Mahasangh, including 13 males and 1 female guest faculty at Neelam Park, Bhopal on Sunday.

Protesting against the Government’s policy to appoint lecturers and assistant professors through Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC), Rahul Jhariya, a member of Jabalpur Unit of Mahasangh informed that after a long service of more than 10-15 years, now the Government wants us to qualify MPPSC. “Is this our age to prepare for MPPSC and qualify the same in presence of youngsters who are more involved and actively preparing for the PSC examination since years?” he questioned. “Despite serving the Higher Education Department for years, we are unable to serve our families respectfully. The department wanted our complete time to serve the teaching job with all devotion, honesty and that too, without any additional source of income through other jobs, but in return, we receive monthly salary of just Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000. In addition, Government never left any stone unturned to question our efficiency and intelligence,” he added. There are around 12 thousand guest faculties providing their sincere services at various institutes of higher education across the State since decades.

Now the State Government wanted them to qualify MPPSC to get appointed on the post of lecturers and assistant
professors.
