Mob sets 2 ST buses afire

Cops, journos attacked. Schools colleges remained closed

Tension erupted in Warud on Monday afternoon when an ST bus knocked dead a 13-year-old school student. The mob set afire two State transport buses. The incident took place near Circuit House here. Strong police bandobast was deployed in the town to avoid any untoward incident.

The mob allegedly manhandled cops, journalists and others. As a precaution, the schools and colleges remained closed.
According to information, Tabij Raja Ferojkhan Pathan (13) was a student of Shantiniketan School, Warud. He was heading towards his school on the bicycle. When he reached near Circuit House, the recklessly driven ST bus (MH-40-N-8490) dashed his bicycle. The impact of the accident was so strong that the boy died on the spot.

Soon large number of people gathered near the spot. Fumed over his death the community members burnt the buses. The bus driver Abdul Rafique Abdul Rauf fled from the spot after the accident. The angry mob set afire the second bus (MH-40-N-8452). They also damaged the fire brigade vehicle deployed to douse the fire. Few people sustained injuries in stone pelting. Warud Police immediately reached the spot after getting the information. However, the mob by then reached Warud ST Depot and tried to create terror amongst the passengers and students.
The mob also damaged few two-wheelers parked in the depot. The passengers moved way to save themselves.

Additional police force from Shendurjana Ghat, Benoda, Morshi and Shirkhed Police Station and riot control force from Amravati was also summoned to control the situation.
Dildar Talvi, Sub-divisional Police Officer, Gorakh Dive, PI, Ashish Bijwal, Tehsildar, Sudarshan Shahare, Naib Tehsildar, Kamlakar Deshmukh, Sheshrao Nitnaware, PI, Shendurjana Ghat, Shantikumar Patil, PI, Benoda, Rajesh Rathod, PI, Morshi, Nitin Chavan, Police Inspector from Shirkhed and others controlled the situation.
