Business Bureau,

In order to strengthen All India Insurance Pensioners Association (AIIPA) and combat against the Government’s in tolerance attitude, it is necessary for AIIPA members to remain united, said T K Chokraborty, National General Secretary of AIIPA.

He was speaking at the concluding of 7th General Conference of AIIPA, at South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC). He said that Government in order to retain its supremacy was dividing people in the name of caste, religion, language and financial background. Government is taking away freedom of common for causes like social, cultural and religious. Government has put several restrictions on common man. “Giving undue attention to movie like Padmavat, the Government has tried to divert the attention of the masses from workers agitation, farmers suicides, unemployment and other problems. Government is overlooking all these relevant problems and is keeping people in other things,” Chokraborty said.

He said, Government is merging big insurance companies like General Insurance, Life Insurance Corporation of India, National Insurance which is against the interest of people “We cannot deny that all the big insurance companies may land up in trouble,” he pointed out. “Government will convert people’s contribution of workers as a share. There will be no pension in the future for the workers and they will be forced to enjoy dividend on their shares,” he said. Chokraborty insisted that pensioners should get united.

Pointing towards Government, Chokraborty questioned, “Why the announcement of demonetisation was made by the Prime Minister and not by the Finance Minister, which seems to be doubtful?.” He also said that the price of gold went upto Rs 70,000 for 30 gram of gold after demonetisation because all the black money was invested into the jewellery. Thousand of people lost their jobs due to demonetisation. All business came on back foot and all public works were allotted on contract basis.

New body of the Association was announced by M L Sethiya, President of AIIPA for the tenure 2018-20.
