Rajim Kumb Kalp Mela concludes with Shahi Snan

The 14-day Rajim Kumbh-Kalp Mela that started on the occasion of ‘Magh Purnima’ on January 31 concluded on Maha Shivratri on Tuesday with Shahi Snan (mass bathing) on the confluence of Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondur rivers at Rajim.

Naga Sadhus, other sants and thousands of devotees participated in the Shahi Snan on the confluence. State religious trust and endowment minister Brijmohan Agrawal, Rajim MLA Santosh Upadhyay, Gobra Navapara municipal council president Vijay Goyal and other prominent citizens were also part of the mass bathing. People from all walks of life – be it Hindi or Muslim, enthusiastically participated in the rituals of the concluding day.

Earlier, a procession of Naga Sadhus was taken out at 7.30 am on Tuesday. The procession passed through Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Chowk, Shastri Chowk and reached Triveni Sangam. Sadhus demonstrated their skills in various art during the procession. While some Sadhus were seen riding horse in the procession. As it was the last day of the Mela, Rajeev Lochan Mandir, Kuleshwar mandir saw huge rush of devotees.

The devotees had mass bathing on the occasion of Magh Purnima on January 31, Janki Jayanti on February 8 and finally on Maha Shivratri on February 13 as these dates are considered as pious. Around 60000 earthen lamps were lit on February 7 followed 2100 conch shells were blown on February 8.
