‘Command Control Room to bring transperancy’

The Command Control and GIS Cell with all the modern technological facilities will help in effectively monitoring and coordinating various schemes of Forest Department along with protection and conservation of flora and fauna. This is the first well-equipped Command Control Room in the country that will bring transperance in the functioning of the department, said Sudhir Mungantiwar, Forest Minister.


He was speaking after inaugurating the Command Control Room in Van Bhavan, Civil Lines, here on Friday. Raje Ambrishrao Atram, Minister of State for Forest, Vikas Kharage, Secretary, Forest, Shree Bhagwan, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Head of Forest Force), A K Misra, Chief Wildlife Warden, and senior forest officers were present.


Mungantiwar further said that this modern Command Control Room had been created after studying various such control rooms in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bhopal and other places. All the necessary information would be collected about massive plantation programme, forest protection, conservation and other schemes for effective future planning. An amount of Rs one crore has been made available for the purpose, he added.


The government will take up am ambitious 13 crore tree plantation programme this year and this room would provide all the information about plantation sites, survival rate of the plants etc and this will help people promote faith in this massive tree plantation programme. He pointed out that he would be personally monitoring the tree plantation programme to be taken up from July 1 to 30 this year across Maharashtra.


The offices of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Chief Conservator of Forest, Deputy Conservator of Forest and others would be connected directly with this control room and hence the officers would check the ongoing activities as well quality of works.


On the occasion, the minister released a book on activities of the control room. A presentation was also made on this control room and GIS Cell. Sudhakar Deshmukh, MLA, was prominently present on the occasion.
