BHILAI,

The Horticulture Department of BSP is all set for the much awaited event of Bhilaians, the ‘Flower Show-2018’ which is on February 4 the first Sunday of the month. The event is organised annually with intricate precision by the department. The final touches under the hectic preparations are being made by the management of Maitri Bagh for ensuring its grand success. Over 40,000 visitors are likely to visit this year’s flower show. 20 ticket counters have been made to avoid rush at the counter and around 100 personnel from CISF, Police and BSP are deployed for the smooth conduct of the event.

Dr G K Dubey, AGM (Horticulture), while talking to ‘The Hitavada’ said, “This year we have introduced many new things like different designs like tortoise, duck and other sculptures. Also elaborate arrangement to avoid crowd like the land area of the garden have been expanded to provide enough space.”

He further informed that the contests in various categories are being organised, including Gardening in BSP residential quarters for employees; School gardens in BSP managed schools; contests for potted plants like Cactus, Bonsai, etc. Apart from these contests, Salad Making Contest for the BSP and non-BSP schools’ students, and the display of medicinal herbs would also be the special attractions. Garlands and bouquet making contest for school students would also be another significant attraction. The entry for all contests is free and large numbers of contestants are expected to participate in each category of contest as we are receiving entries in large number on the last moment, it might be more in the last than last year.

Meanwhile, this is for the first time that Maitri Bagh management has banned Inflatable giant slides inside Maitri Bagh during flower show. Earlier every year the Maitri Bagh management used to allow one or two Inflatable giant slides inside Maitri Bagh during flower show for the entertainment of the children. But this year it has banned such slides terming it to be against safety norms. However, this is turn has came as a blow for the people who used to install such slides inside and earn some money and also for the enthusiastic children.
