‘Go for bores at landfill sites’

Divisional Commissioner Ajatshatru Shrivastava instructed to go for bores at four places so that Methane gas would be properly disposed off in a scientific way at Bhanpur trench. He gave these instructions while he was addressing a meeting with BMC officials on Friday.

On the occasion, Collector Sudham Khade, IG Jaideep Prasad, DIG Dharmendra Chaudhary, Mayor Alok Sharma, BMC commissioner Priyanka Das were also present. Divisional commissioner also instructed for installation of CCTV cameras at site for proper monitoring.

Collector Sudam Khade instructed to steer the dumped garbage for proper exit of Methane gas from Municipal Solid Wastes (MSW). He also suggested to take services of digital Methane gas detector and experts to know the exact quantity of Methane gas. After this instruction, immediately, coal mines based at Chhindwara and other coal mines have been contacted for digital Methane gas detector availability. Even Kolkata and Ahmadabad were also contacted for the same. Experts with device are arriving Bhopal from Kolkata.  

Mayor Alok Sharma said, “It is not normal issue as it is winter so fire would not automatically erupt in Bhanpur trench. So it is destructive mentality of some mischievous elements.” In fact, fire erupted at Bhanpur trench on night of January 29. Agencies m/s Saurashtra Enviro Projects Private Limited, Surat has been hired for closure of Bhanpur trench in a scientific way. Garbage is being dumped at Adampur landfill now.
