Bhopal Express yet to get LHB coaches

Shaan-E-Bhopal train running from Habibganj to New Delhi is yet to get moderated with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, giving tough time to the passengers.


Earlier, there was plan to attach the coaches in train by January. Now it has been postponed for March 2018. The moderate coaches rack will be supplied by Kapurthala factory. According to Railways communique, Railway Board has approved 33 LHB coaches to West Central Railway (WCR) Jabalpur zone. Preparation for installing the coaches in Shaan-E-Bhopal has been started on zonal-level. However, passengers have to yet wait for almost six months to travel in LHB coaches. This passenger compartment will be delivered by German company and it will take time. The coaches will be equipped with modern facilities like comfortable seat, no jerk, better designing and preventing capsizing of coaches during derailment.


At present, West Central Railway (WCR) has no LHB coach in any train. Sources said Bhopal Express has been selected for LHB coaches as it has received best rake maintenance award for two times. The train has also awarded for passenger facility and cleanliness by International Standard Organisations.


After getting this moderated coaches, the train will be running from 130 kmph to 160 kmph speed. Railways has also completed the project of Habibganj-Bina third line which will help to boost up the speed of trains including Bhopal Express. Running time of the train will be reduced by 45 minutes. 32 LHB coach rack will be released by Kapurthala Coach Factory during January 2018. Out of this 32 rack, one rack could be assign to the Bhopal express train.


Shatabdi Express arrives New Delhi in 8:15 hours with 6 halts while Bhopal Express train arrives the same spot in 10:55 hours with 8 halts. With LHB coaches speed of the train will be between 130 to 160 kmph.


Railways has planned to replace all conventional coaches with LHB. Officials have planned to eliminate the conventional and old fashioned coaches completely from trains. Manufacturing of old fashioned conventional coaches will be completely stopped by year 2018. LHB coaches provide safer and comfortable journey to passengers. Shaan-E-Bhopal is ISO certified train. The train will be completely air conditioned after installation of LHB coaches. At present, train has 24 coaches, including 2 SLR. The train has only 7 AC coaches.

After LHB coaches, the train will have 12 AC-III coaches. At present, trains run 64 kmph (average speed) but after having moderated coaches, the train will run for 80 kmph. LHB coaches are allowed to run for 160 kmph speed.
