Forest Minister inaugurates online sale of forest products through Amazon

Maharashtra is a leading State in the country to sell products prepared from medicinal plants such as Bija glass, Mahua juice, jam etc online through Amazon app, said Sudhir Mungantiwar, Forest Minister. He was speaking at the two-day conference of senior forest officers held in the premises of Power Grid Corporation Limited, Nari Road, on Friday. Raje Ambrish Atram, Minister of State for Forest, MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh,Vikas Kharage, Secretary, Forest, Shree Bhagwan, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Head of Forest Force), Naik, Commissioner, MGNREGS, and top forest officers were present.


Forest Minister further said that the Central Government made announcement through its budget for Forest Department and stressed the need for studying and analysing them for bringing maximum benefits to Maharashtra as well bringing more funds. The department could move further on self-confidence like Ramdeo Baba. On the occasion, Atram released a book on ‘Vikasachya Hirwya Vaata; SPM Scheme and sanctuaries.


Later, Mungantiwar inaugurated the Office of Maharashtra Eco-Tourism Development Board at Mangalwari Bazaar, Sadar, in presence of Raje Ambrish Atram, Vikas Kharage, Shree Bhagwan, Maheep Gupta, Managing Director of the board, and others.


Addressing the gathering, Forest Minister, stressed the need for creating love among the people through eco-tourism and that would help in promoting protection and conservation of flora and fauna. He said that the government increased funds from Rs six crore in 2012-13 to Rs 92 crore in 2015-16 to boost eco-tourism by providing required facilities. He hoped that the board would take constructive steps to boost eco-tourism.


Gupta welcomed the guests and delivered his speech giving information about various activities undertaken by the board to promote eco-tourism. Kishor Mishrikotkar, DFO, conducted the function.


Mungantiwar also inaugurated Bamboo Shop put up by Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board in front of Balodyan, Seminary Hills. Raje Ambrish Atram, Vikas Kharage and Shree Bhagwan were the guests of honour. Mungantiwar took keen interest in various items/articles prepared from bamboo and appreciated the officers concerned.


TSK Reddy, Managing Director of the board, welcomed the guests and briefed them about various activities of the board and Bamboo Research & Training Centre engaged
in providing employment opportunities to the youths by providing training in bamboo and value-added items. Ajay Patil welcomed the guests. Rahul Patil, Director, BRTC, C S Reddy, ACF, Corporator Pragati Patil, Yadavrao Deoghade, former legislator, Dilip Chinchmalatpure, Anand Fiske and others were present prominently.
