IIIT’s Science, Technology Expo to aware students

With an aim to make school children aware of the recent developments in science and engineering and various professional opportunities available for them, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur (IIIT-NR) in association with District Mineral Foundation organised a one day Science and Technology Exhibition, SCInTFIC, on Friday at its campus in Naya Raipur.


Vivek Acharya, Director, Technical Education Department, Government of Chhattisgarh, inaugurated the event attended by more than 1000 students from various Government and Private Schools from Raipur and nearby districts.
The event consisted of hands-on experience, workshops, career-guidance lectures and showcasing of hardware and software projects of societal importance like robots, drones, computer applications, smartphone applications etc.


Dr Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor and Director of IIIT-Naya Raipur, in his inaugural address, said about the purpose of this exhibition Vivek Acharya, in his key note address stressed the need to inculcate scientific temperament in students to ignite their minds and propel them towards various innovations. He cited various examples to elaborate that scientific temperament was always part of our tradition like invention of ‘0’ by Aryabhatta, medical science by Dhanvantri etc. In this context, he recited the relevant part of hanuman chalisa wherein the distance between the sun and earth was mentioned centuries ago and same has been corroborated by NASA.
Dr. Rajarshi Mahapatra, Dean (Academics) of IIIT-Naya Raipur proposed vote of thanks.
