VINBAX: Indian, Vietnam first military exercise ends

The first ever India – Vietnam Table Top Exercise (VINBAX – 2018) was successfully concluded, on Friday. The exercise was conducted under the aegis of Headquarter Madhya Bharat Area and Headquarter Central Command at The Grenadiers Regimental Centre, Jabalpur, from January 29 to February 2.


It was a table top exercise to carry out training for Peacekeeping Operations under United Nations mandate to enable and train officers of Vietnam delegation for exercising efficient command of contingents in United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. Fifteen officers from each side participated in the event and gained insight through shared experiences.


An array of multi-disciplinary lectures on various United Nations related subjects were conducted by experts on the subject. These lectures were aimed at training all the participants with regards to functioning of Peacekeeping forces under UN mandate. A joint table top exercise was carried out by the participants which further facilitated in understanding the philosophy and principles of United Nations Peacekeeping with greater clarity.


The participants excelled during the table top exercise wherein they jointly derived solutions to various complicated scenarios under various chapters of UN mandate.
On successful completion of the exercise, Major General KJS Gill, Sena Medal, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Madhya Bharat Area addressed the participants and congratulated them for successful completion of the exercise VINBAX – 2018.


Senior Colonel Luu Dinh Hien of Vietnam People’s Army, on behalf of delegation praised the Indian Army for its contributions towards United Nations Peacekeeping Forces, as one of the largest troops contributing nation and thanked Indian Army for its valuable efforts in providing training to Vietnam People’s Army. On concluding day of the exercise, trainee officers of Vietnam People’s Army and Indian Army were honoured with mementoes and certificates at the hands of Major General KJS Gill, Sena Medal, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Madhya Bharat Area. On the occasion, Brigadier SP Singh, Commandant, The Grenadiers Regimental Centre and other senior officers were especially present.
