RPF staff soon to have CCTV cameras on their uniforms

Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff will soon be equipped with Close Circuit Television (CCTV) Camera on their uniform to keep footage of people who are given advise by the on duty RPF staffs. While addressing mediaperson R S Chauhan, Inspector General of RPF Bilaspur Zone, informed that RPF has the responsibility to safe guard the passengers special attention is paid towards women and children safety he added.

He informed about the achievements of RPF at zonal level during year 2017. Total of 36,200 persons were fined under Railway Protection Act and fine of Rs 30.30 lakh was recovered from them. 226 persons were handed over to Government Railway Police under and booked Under various Section of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Rs 12. 20 lakh was recovered. Twenty five persons were arrested with Cannabis worth Rs 4.80 lakh. During the year, 230 case of Railway property theft were recorded and 290 persons were cameras on their uniforms

arrested. Railway property worth Rs 13.11 lakh was seized from them. Seven hundred twenty persons were fined for Alarm chain pulling and 150 vehicles were seized for breaking level crossing barrier.  Twenty four unauthorised Railway ticket agents were arrested out of which 14 were e-ticket agents and cyber café operators.

At present about 1500 RPF staffs are active in South East Central Railway zone and patrolling is about 60 trains are performed by them.
