Agitating farmers burn CM’s effigy

Farmers burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during the fourth day of their demonstration and hunger strike of former Union Minister, Yashwant Sinha in front of Collectorate.

During his hunger strike, Yashwant Sinha reiterated his commitment to fight for the rights of farmers till his last breath. He charged the State Government for overlooking the genuine demands of farmers by depriving them of adequate compensation of their agricultural land acquired for establishment of NTPC project in Gadarwara and providing them employment in the project.

Former Union Finance Minister Sinha also raised demand for providing adequate cost of crops to sugarcane farmers and revoking Bhavantar Yojana. He refused for table talk with any representative of the state government before fulfilling the long awaited demands of farmers. The demonstration was also addressed by leaders of different farmers’ associations and public representatives who declared for continuing demonstration and raising the voice of farmers on national level.

In order to strengthen the voice of farmers, Bhartiya Janata Party leader and Member of Parliament, Shatrughan Sinha also reached Narsinghpur on Sunday evening. Besides this, a large number of farmers from Kareli, Narsinghpur and Gadarwara and adjoining areas are reaching to register their protest against the state government.

On the other hand, Collector, Abhay Verma and Superintendent of Police, Monika Shukla several times tried to talk with Yashwant Sinha but he refused for talking with any officer or representative of the state government until the demands of farmers will be fulfilled.
