Industrialists should dream big, set up mega projects: Gadkari

MIDC Industries Association (MIA) celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day on February 4, at MIA House, Hingna, Nagpur. Continuing its legacy of celebrating this day every year, the programme was graced by Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India as the chief guest.

Sameer Meghe, MLA-Hingna was the guest of honour. Also present was the Regional Director of MSEDCL Bhalchandra Yashwant Khandait.
The function was held under the guidance of the President of MIA Capt C M Randhir and presided over by the Secretary C G Shegaonkar. All dignitaries were felicitated by giving shawl, shrifal, bouquet and a memento.

Capt C M Randhir welcomed Gadkari and briefed him about the various difficulties being faced by the industry and requested him to use his good offices to resolve various issues of industry. He requested Gadkari to look into the possibilities of creating a automobile hub in Nagpur, a world-class convention centre at par with Pragati Maidan, New Delhi an alternate drinking water source for MIDC, sewage line for the industrial area, skill development centre and electric transformers with minimum 500 KV capacity for the benefit of the industry.

Gadkari listened with patients the difficulties being faced by industry in MIDC and requested the local MLA Sameer Meghe to look it into the possibility of low cost housing in Hingna for the benefit of working class employees of MIDC. He also directed industrialists to look for mega projects for the generation of employment. He advocated the use of new and eco friendly technologies of alternate source of fuels such as bio-diesel, LNG, ethanol, electric vehicles etc. He also motivated local industrialists to dream big and ensured full support from his Ministry and Chief Minister’s office.

He said, “I am not a businessman but may son is in business and has clocked a turnover of Rs 1,100 crore and future plans consist of expanding the business and register a turnover of more than Rs 5,000 crore”.

Shegaonkar in his welcome speech briefed about the history of MIA, its facilities and achievements to the guests. On the Foundation Day, MIA recognised the success of few out-standing industrialists by giving away the ‘Entrepreneurial Excellence Award’. This year the awards were given to Deepak Arora of Shree Udyog, Dr Ravindra Gandhi of Bombay Well Print Inks (P) Ltd and Sudarshan Shende of Vithoba oral products manufacturer. Sunil Darshrath Mahadik, Senior Police Inspector of MIDC Police Station was also felicitated for his achievement of getting the President of India’s Police Medal.

Shweta Shelgaonkar was the Master of Ceremony of the programme. The grand event concluded with vote of thanks from the Addl Secretary Sachin Jain. The event was attended by various Government officers including Joint Director of Industries Ashok Dharmadhikari, General Manager of DIC Gajendra O Bharti, Akulwar and Modave
of MIDC.

The guest list also included President of VIA Atul Pande, President of BMA Nitin Lonkar and President of DICCI, Vidarbha Chapter Gopal Wasnik, Past President of DICCI Nischay Shelke and more than 100 members of Hingna industrial area.
