New commercial complex to have 250 shops for SHGs’

EMPHASISING on his dream of having good parks, playgrounds, crematoriums and commercial complexes in the city. All the NMC commercial market places will be transformed into modern commercial complexes, with the latest amenities said, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Mahila Udyogika Melava’ organised by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Social Welfare Department and Women and Child Welfare Department along with Dindayal Antoday Yojana Rashtriya Nagri Upjivika Kendra, at Reshimbagh Ground on Sunday.

On the occasion, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, presided over the function. Prominently present were Roopa Ganguly, BJP Rajya Sabha Member, Sudhakar Deshmukh, Sudhakar Kohale, both MLA, Sandeep Jadhav, Chairman NMC Standing Committee, Ashwin Mudgal, NMC Commissioner, Varsha Thakre, Chairperson Women and Child Welfare Committee NMC, Shardha Pathak, Deputy Chairperson, Divya Dhurde, Vandana Bhagat, members of the committee, Bhagwan Mende, Chairman Hanuman Nagar Zone, corporators Sunil Agrawal, Sunil Hiranwar, Chetana Tank, Sheetal Kamade, Usha Palot, Satish Hole, Dr Ranjana Lade, Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Mohite, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sandhya Medpalliwar, Education Officer, Raju Bhivgade, Hanuman Nagar Zone Assistant Commissioner.

Looking at the huge response to the exhibition, Gadkari requested Mayor to develop a new market and allot 250 shops to the self help groups (SHGs). “We are ready to give full support for this initiative,” Gadkari said. He also noted that such type of platforms were necessary to market the products of SHGs and also encourage enterpreneurship spirit among woman. “Women working in various fields have proved their excellence through their products. Good work, quality product and telling the truth are essential for every business,” Gadkari said.

He also expressed his pleasure about the womens SHGs having proved their mettle in the business and conveyed his blessings for their betterment.

MP Rupa Ganguly said, “It is the basic right of every woman and citizen to get respect.” She also urged the importance of toilet at every home, and the mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also congratulated the organisers for bringing into reality the ideas of Narendra Modi, and it was a matter of pride for the whole society too.

“Nagpur is privileged to have a leader like big brother Nitin Gadkari,” she said. Mayor Nanda Jichkar, in her presidential address noted that women entrepreneurs have contributed in a big way for nation building. A women entrepreneur gives the right kind of training and culture in the child. She also said that 7 days time to showcase the products was not sufficient. “We are looking forward to provide a full time skill training centre and permanent market to the SHGs to showcase their products. We are committed for it and will take the help of the Union and State Government for this ,” Jichkar said.
