JMC razes seven shops during anti-encroachment drive

In a major exercise the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (J\C), on Monday razed nearly seven shops situated on the road towards Damoh at Damoh Naka. The civic body has provided compensation to all affected persons. It is developing left turn to abate traffic pressure and avoid traffic jam like situation on the busy square.

The JMC started the drive in the evening and continued it till late in the night. A number of senior officials of various departments were present at the site to monitor the drive and avoid any hindrance. Though the JMC had tried to start drive in the morning but due to heavy protest by the shopkeepers the anti-encroachment squad of the JMC had to stop the drive. Some shopkeepers were alleging that they were not provided compensation of their shops while some were demanding shops in lie of shops.

Looking to the gravity of the situation, senior officials reached the site and held talk with the shopkeepers. Heavy police force was also deployed at the site to avoid unpleasant situation.After prolonged discussion, the anti-encroachment squad started the drive and continued it till late in the night. The JMC has deposited compensation in Bank account of affected shopkeepers.

As per the information the JMC has provided compensation of Rs 12,64,000 to Narmada Sahu in lie of shop constructed on 160 square feet area. Likewise, Rs 32,86,400 given to Narayan Sahu for shop on 416 square feet land, Rs 26,07,000 to M S Dinesh Auto for 330 square feet land, Rs 44,75,870 to Kamla Bai Ahirwar for 430 square feet land, Rs 89,93,376 to Govind Sahu for 756 square feet land, Rs 7,58,370 for open plot area 102 square feet and Rs 69,74,030 for 938 square feet open land.
