NMRDA to spend Rs 1,796 crore on devpt works in financial year 2018-19

Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) will spend Rs 1,796 crore on the development work in the region during next Financial Year - 2018-2019. The first ever budget of NMRDA has been discussed in the high level meeting at Mumbai. The budget will be presented to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chairman of Metropolitan Region Committee for final approval.

A sub-committee of NMRDA headed by Sudhir Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) reviewed budget and other development plans in the meeting held at Mumbai. Nitin Karir, Principal Secretary of Urban Development Department was present prominently. Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Deepak Mhaisekar, Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal were also present in the meeting.

Metropolitan Authority has prepared a budget of Rs 1,796 crore to undertake development at NMRDA during next financial year. The Authority will receive grants of Rs 1,300 crore from the Central Government and State Government under various schemes including affordable housing schemes. The Authority will generate around Rs 500 crore revenue from compounding the illegal structure and through premium and other sanctions in the Metro Region. The sub-committee has given its nod to the budget and now, it will go to Chief Minister for final approval. NMRDA Officials Sudhakar Kulmethe, Sunil Gujjalwar were present in the meeting.

The NMRDA covers 711 villages in 3750 sq km area of Nagpur district. The total cost of infrastructure development in metropolitan region is pegged at whopping Rs 37,000 crore and
