‘Safety and Awareness Week’ observed at Merchant Mill

‘Safety & Awareness Week’ was observed at Merchant Mill of Bhilai Steel Plant and was formally inaugurated by GM I/c (Mills) B.Saha and GM (Safety & Fire Brigade Services) T. Pandiaraja as the chief guests by lighting a lamp to mark the formal inauguration of Safety Week. They also administered the Safety Oath to the assembled executives, employees and contract laborers.

In their address, the chief guest duo specifically insisted the assembled employees to abide by all the safety regulations at the place of work and also to be aware of safety regulations in every day’s private life. DGM I/c (Merchant Mill)Alok Chaterjee, after apprising about the Safety Awareness initiative undertaken by the department, stressed on the necessity of abiding 5-S in every day work for ensuring better House Keeping.

The proceedings of the program were conducted by Departmental Safety Officer, Dharmendra Kumar Patel.
During the Safety Week, Every Day’s Safety, Fire Safety, Accident Case Study, Gas Safety, making contract labourers aware regarding safety along with 5-S Awareness Rally and other such events were organised. Apart from this, slogan contest on ‘5-S’, essay contest, Quiz and Best Zone Contest were organized, in which the regular employees and also contract workers participated with enthusiasm.

The concluding function of Safety Week, held on February 3 was graced as the special guests by DGM I/c (Merchant Mill) Alok Chatrjee, and AGM (Safety Engineering Department) R.K.Tiwari. Afterwards, the winners of ‘Safety’ and ‘5-S’ Contests were presented awards. Apart from this, the special awards like “Safety- Man of the Year” and the award for ‘Best Zone’ were also presented to the winners.

The dignitaries presented on this occasion were: DGM (Operation) S.Das, DGM (Mechanical) Prakash Bhondekar, DGM (Electrical) Shailendra Pathak , Sunil Deshmukh from Business Excellence Department, J S Baghel (Labor Officer -Mills) and K R Sahu from Safety Engineering Department.
