8 pc more budget ayed for WCR this yr: GM Pillai

GENERAL Manager of West Central Railway (WCR) Girish Pillai, accompanied by heads of different departments of Zone, apprised about fund sanctions, allotment and approval for railway infrastructure development, safety, passenger amenities etc in budget announced by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Parliament. He said that WCR is maintaining low operating ratio of 72 per cent and maintaining its profits have received funds allocation for all its project. He was addressing a press conference at WCR headquarters GM Conference Hall on Wednesday.
Pillai added that for WCR projects, an amount of Rs 3200 crore has been sanctioned for all projects which is eight per cent higher than previous year’s allotment of Rs 2962 crore. For new line, an amount of Rs 575 crore has been allotted, including Lalitpur Singrauli 541 kms line Rs 315 crore, Ramgunjmandi-Bhopal 262 km an amount of Rs 260 crore have been allotted.

For doubling and triple line, Rs 1140 crore have been allotted. In this Bina-Katni third line Rs 15 crore, Bina-Kota doubling Rs 200 crore, Bhopal-Bina 20 crore, Katni-Singrauli Rs 362 crore, Satna-Rewa Rs 75 crore are mainly sanctioned. In this budget, other than previously approved projects on some areas Railway Ministry has allotted funds under Umbrella Project approach and has given a fixed amount like for foot over bridget, high-level platform construction and soft upgradation station have been allotted Rs 325 crore and Rs 100 crore.

For passenger amenities for installation of 2,589 escalators Rs 2589 crore provisions, for 1,000 lifts in 500 stations Rs 404 crore, washable apron at stations Rs 200 crore, quick watering system at 25 stations, Rs 50 crore have been allotted. With approval, provision of installation of escalator and lift at A 1 and A category stations could be done. For passenger facilities Rs 145 crore have been provisioned. In this for 135 crore new works have been approved.

At Kachpura, Guna, Roothayai, Sawaimadhopur, Ramgunjmandi card line will be constructed to ease traffic. For ROB and RUB, Rs 320 crore have been allloted. At Narsinghpur, Bargavan, Maihar and Damoh, RPF station and barrack will be constructed with Rs 40 crore. For new bridge renovation and maintenance Rs 68 crore have been provided with approval of 13 new works. WCR GM Pillai added that for WCR, Rs 1600 crore have been allotted for five electrification projects, an amount of Rs 396 crore have been approved including Itarsi-Katni-Manikpur (653 km) Rs 63 crore, Katni-Singrauli 260 km amount of Rs 100 crore, Ratlam-Neemuch Chanderia Kota total 348 crore Rs 126 crore.

Vijaypur-Maksi Rs 91 crore and Guna Gwalior of 227 km Rs 15 crore have been allotted. For infrastructure development in Indian Railways, Rs 89,702 crore have been allotted for 11 works. For new lines Rs 10,000 crore, Rs 250 crore for information technology, signalling system Rs 77,900, 100 coaching pit lines advancement Rs 300 crore, boundary wall construction Rs 500 crore, WiFi facility at 300 B category station Rs 115 crore, Rs 180 crore for training facilities, Rs 165 crore for new quarters, Golden Quadileteral and its dilines track maintainer security Rs 200 crore have been allotted and for emergency track renovation Rs 200 crore have been allotted.
