BJP Corporator offers resignation in general council meet

An unusual scene was witnessed on the second day of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s general council meeting held on Wednesday when a woman corporator of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party offered her resignation saying that neither her calls are given importance in the council meet nor the officials lend an ear to her plight.

During the general council meet, Seema Yadav, corporator from ward number 54 threatened to offer her resignation as there was no reason for her being in the job if she could not meet the expectations of local residents in her ward.
Meanwhile, a Congress Corporator Santosh Kasana raised the issue of illegal parking issue where she highlighted that the parking at Bhopal Utsav Mela was sold by a contractual employee and a case was registered against him.

She said that the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has filed an FIR against a contractual employee but how could he do it without connivance of higher authorities. She was assured of a probe into the matter. Meanwhile, six agendas were passed in the council meet with common consent.
Mayor Alok Sharma, while addressing the council, said that a special meet will be convened on February 12 and February 13 to discuss the issues such as resignation financial crunch or any other reasons which are hurdle in the development of the wards. He also asked the corporators to provide a detailed account of the works which are pending in their wards. Corporator Sanjeev Gupta in the council raised issue of advertisement for sale of the shops in new market which he claimed was flawed. On the objection, chairman assured to send the matter to the MIC for its approval. The demands of renaming of Rohit Nagar square and the road connecting the 5-number stop to PCC office were also discussed in the meet.
