C’garh women basketball team secures silver medal in National tourney

Chhattisgarh Women Basketball team secured silver medal in the 68th Senior National Basketball Championship, recently held at Tamil Nadu. In the crucial final match, the state team being defeated by Indian Railway team by the score of 98-89 points. Anju Lakra scored 25 points for state team in the final match and Poonam Chaturvedi scored 28 points while Sangeeta Kaur and Gulafza Ali each have scored 10-10points.

Earlier, in the semifinal match Chhattisgarh whitewashed Karnataka. The state women team included Anju Lakra (Captain), Seema Singh, Sangeeta Kaur, Megha Singh, Gulafza Ali, Riya Verma, Sakshi Pandey, Nisha Netam, Mahima Bhardhwaj, Kalpana Patel and Kritika Rajjak along with Rajesh Patel as Main Coach, Rohit Patel as Assistant Coach, E Jacob as Manager and Gurumurthy as General Manager. Chief Minister, Dr Raman Singh and all the office bearers from Chhattisgarh Basketball Association including Chairman, Sonmani Bora, Joint Secretary (IOA), Vikram Sisodiya, President, Rajiv Jain, Chief Patron, Arvind Jain, CEO-BSP, M Ravi and others have congratulated the state team on the achievement.
