Capital observes sudden twist in weather, temp dips

IN a sudden twist to the rising temperature in Raipur city, the unexpected cloudy condition and cool wind on Wednesday brought down the maximum temperature by six notches. Raipur recorded maximum temperature of 33.1 degree Celsius on Tuesday, February 6 which under the influence of relatively cool conditions scooped down to 27.0 degrees on February 7. However, the minimum temperature was stable with 18.0 degree Celsius on Wednesday recording deviation of meager 0.4 degrees as on Tuesday in the capital city.

While talking to The Hitavada on change in the climatic conditions, Head of Meteorological Center, Raipur Dr Prakash Khare said “An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Konkan and the adjoining areas and an Easterly (trough) is running in the Southern parts of the country. Under the influence of this trough, Chhattisgarh is experiencing Southerly winds and the moisture incursion is also taking place from the Bay of Bengal. Thus, light rainfall and overcast conditions is very likely over most parts of Chhattisgarh during next 24 hours”. As expected, Northern and Central parts of the state is likely to receive light rainfall at isolated places on Thursday, Dr Khare added.

According to the Met datas, Jagdalpur was the hottest city in the state recording highest maximum temperature of 30.3 degrees while it was in the second position with minimum temperature of 14.5 degrees. The lowest minimum temperature of 14.0 degrees was recorded at Ambikapur and Pendra Road respectively.

The Met Center forecast stated of isolated rainfall or thunder showers in Northern parts of the state on Thursday. The weather will be mainly clear in the Southern region. There is a possibility of moderate rainfall at some places in Raipur city on February 8 with minimum temperature expected around 19 degrees Celsius.
