Student critical as speeding van turns turtle

Reckless driving left a 21-year-old youth critically wounded when one speeding Innova vehicle turned upside down near village Jhaliwada under Waraseoni police station situated around six kilometres from here. Another youth accompanying the injured remained unhurt.

According to information, one person sustained critical injuries near village Jhaliwada under Waraseoni police station when the driver of an Innova (MP 51 CA 1555) being driven at high speed, lost control and the vehicle turned upside down and fell in an agriculture field.

Praveen Katrey (21) and Mahendra Bisen (22), both residents from Shankarpiparia of Kherlanjhi area, studying at Waraseoni College, had taken house at Waraseoni.
On the day of accident both were returning back to Waraseoni from their native village in the vehicle. While passing through Jhaliwada, the driver running at high speed lost control in his attempt to save some stray animal. The sudden braking proved fatal as the vehicle turned upside down and fell in one agriculture field.

Soon after the mishap occurred in broad day light, villagers rushed to the accident spot and found both the students trapped inside the vehicle. Both were pulled out from the vehicle as in between Ambulance 108 reached the spot and both the injured were rushed to Government Hospital Waraseoni.

Duty doctor Dr Ravindra Tathode, who examined the injured and gave first aid treatment found the condition of Praveen critical as he had suffered head injury and wound below the left eye. Owing to his critical condition was referred to district hospital for intensive treatment.
His associate Mahendra remained unhurt was discharged from the hospital.

Villagers, who witnessed the mishap told police that since the vehicle was running at high speed the mishap occurred while police who reached the accident spot said the mishap is the outcome of steering failure. Meanwhile a case under relevant section of IPC has been registered by the police, the vehicle has been badly damaged in the mishap. The injured referred to district hospital undergoing treatment is reported to be critical. As further investigations are underway.
