IRS, NCC organise health check-up camp

INDIAN Redcross Soiety (IRS) and National Cadet Corp (NCC) jointly organised a free health check-up camp for the students at the Government Home Science and Science College for Women (Autonomous) on Thursday. The camp was organised under the patronage of College’s Principal Dr Shashibala Shrivastava and direction of Dr Vijaya Shrivastava Kaushal and Dr Varsha Jain.

The team of doctors from Seth Gobind Das District Hospital (Victoria) including Dr Amita Jain, Dr Shilpi Jain and Dr Rajshree Barman conducted the primary health check-up on the students during the camp. Around 500 students, college staff and employees were benefited with the intiative.

Dr Dhananjay Sharma, Head of Surgery Department, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital while motivating the students, said that we have to find solution of various problems from locally available resources by adding a bit of innovation in it. He asked every student to be innovative to solve their problems themselves. This will help them to become independent in life.

Talking about the last minute challenges in healthcare, Dr Sharma said that we can find the substitutes of various high-cost health equipments from our surroundings by giving a touch of innovation. Citing example, he said that the knowledge of ayurvedic therapy can be used at various fields of medical. Like by injecting the platelets-rich plasma near the gangrene wound, serious patients of gangrene can be saved.The students were benefited with the knowledge shared by Dr Sharma during the programme. 

Those who rendered remarkable contribution in success of the programme included Dr Sheela Vishwakarma, Dr Payal Shrivastava, NCC PG students and office-bearers of the college’s Student Union. Programme was compered by Dr Vijaya Shrivastava Kaushal while the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Varsha Jain.
