MES Builders Assn registers protest

The national level body of Military Engineering Services authorised builders recently staged demonstrations at various places in the country including here in the city. The agitating builders were demanding release of their bills that were allegedly pending for quite long.


In Nagpur, the members of the association held a tool down protest outside the office of the Chief Engineer (AF), CWE Nagpur, Garrison Engineer - Nagpur Area, led by the Branch Chairman Vijay Mulchandani and Secretary Quaid Johar Hussain.


Later on they also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Engineer / CWE / GE Nagpur zone. “We have appealed to the Ministry of Defense to release our dues but despite several attempts, nothing has worked and due to that some of our contracts are facing financial problems,” said Mulchandani.
Hussain said that it was a matter of grave concern that the Government is paying no heed to the life-threatening situations of the MES builders who are always committed to do their works in order to enhance the infrastructural capabilities of the military without considering the adverse climate conditions.”


The MES Builders Association of India comprising of thousands of builders spread throughout the country in 72 branches held a peaceful Protest Day there by mounting pressure on the Government to take corrective steps and release long pending payments of the builders.


The builders have been taking up the matter with the local formations at branch level and with the Command Chief Engineers and Engineer-In-Chief at the Headquater levels.
In addition to this, members of the Andaman and Nicobar branch submitted a memorandum of the Defence Minister.
Praveen Mahana, President of the association and Balbir Singh Vij, Generl Secretary, met Minister of State for Finance and apprised the situation.
