OFK to celebrate platinum jubilee year in gala ceremony on February 10

COMMEMORATING 75 years’ rich legacy of Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK), platinum jubilee year will be celebrated with series of events in a gala ceremony to be organised on February 10,” informed Arvind Kumar Agarwal (IOFS), Senior General Manager of Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) while addressing a press conference on Thursday. Senior GM A K Agarwal informed that S K Chourasia, Chairman of Ordnance Factory Board and Director General of Ordnance Factories, along with former General Managers of OFK will be specially arriving to attend the historic event.

Main attraction of the gala festival will be Akhil Bharatiya Kavi Sammelan to be organised at Westland Stadium from 8 pm onwards on February 10. Noted poets including Padma Shri Surendra Sharma, Padma Shri Ashok Chakradhar, Sita Sagar, Kavita Tiwari, Sudip Bhola will be specially arriving to participate in the programme. The programme will inaugurate with Prabhat Pheri to be taken out from Westland Stadium and culminate at OFK main gate with hoisting of national flag. Senior officers will pay homage to martyr employees who sacrificed their lives in different accidents while producing ammunition at Shaheed Smarak, OFK. Thereafter, a worship programme will be organised at Maa Durga Mandir in OFK premises.

In second phase of the programme, a grand plantation programme for Chairman, former GMs and employees’ representatives will be organised at Environment Park. The Chairman will also inaugurate a newly constructed volleyball court. Senior officers will perform bhoomipujan for construction of Platinum Jubilee Gate at OFK and will visit different sections in the factory. Chairman Chourasia will inaugurate newly established production unit of 84 mm, 751 HEAT ammunition at F-3 section. Production of 84 mm ammunition is being started with technical assistance of Sweden. Guests will also release five postal stamps of Department of Post during a felicitation programme to be organised at Subhash Bhawan from 4:30 pm.

Officers will also honour family members of martyr employees. On the occasion, a documentary on success story of OFK from 1942 will be depicted to detail about glorious history of the factory. Senior officers of defence, Army establishments, district administration, civic authorities, railway, postal and telecom departments have been specially invited to attend the programmes. Organising committee members including AGM Hemant Kumar Paikra and AGM B P Mishra made an appeal towards residents to be present during Akhil Bharatiya Kavi Sammelan and making the celebrations memorable one for the city.
